An example of this is a manufacturing client for whom we helped enhance their investment menu by highlighting investment options that needed improvement. The Plan Sponsor was able to obtain from the recordkeeper replacement investments in the underperforming asset classes to pursue the goal of creating a stronger investment lineup for the plan participants. A large transportation firm had many participants allocated exclusively into the money market fund and even some older participants with allocations in far riskier investments than was appropriate for their age. Additionally, there were many plan participants with outstanding loans on their accounts. Working with the plan sponsor, Alpha Pension Group created an education curriculum to address the client’s needs. Less than two years later, participant behavior changed. The result was a significant reduction in plan loans and a significant reallocation rate into appropriate investment allocations.
